Danish Air Force Updated Tactical Reconnaissance System (TRS) Program Enters Service

Paris Air Show, Wednesday, 17 June 2009 --[ASDWire]-- The Royal Danish Air Force’ Tactical Reconnaissance System (TRS) has been subject to an update program to become NATO STANAG compliant. The Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organization (DALO) selected L-3 Communication Systems-East’s S/TAR™ RM-4000T Solid State Recorders for its commonality with the U.S. ANG F-16 TARS program and its compliance to STANAG 4575.

Terma was responsible for the integration of the new recorder into the TRS pod and for all ground testing. The successful flight testing was performed by the RDAF in cooperation with Terma.

TRS Program Manager Asger Lund Christensen at Terma commented “the integration of the RM-4000T with the TRS pod and ground stations was straight forward with only minor modifications needed. The integration testing started with the arrival of the first unit and the first test flight took place ten weeks later for approval by DALO and RDAF. The entire program was completed within 12 months and on schedule.”

The Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organization reported they are pleased with the rapid installation performed by Terma in cooperation with L-3 Communication Systems- East.

David Micha, Vice President of Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (ISR) at L-3 CS-East, said “It was a pleasure to work with Terma and DALO on this program. The cooperation between Terma, DALO, and L-3 CS-East made for a seamless integration of RM-4000T into the Terma pod and was accomplished on budget and on schedule. The RM-4000T will provide the Danish Air Force with a state-of-the-art recording capability that will enhance their mission capability.”

The TRS pod, supplied by Terma of Lystrup, Denmark, first entered service in 2006.
