Increased functionality and performance for mission-critical applications
Leuven, Belgium, January 25th 2009 --[ASDWire]-- Luciad, the specialist in high performance visualization of situational awareness applications, announces it has released LuciadMap™ V9.1 with significant new functionality and increased performance, enabling developers to rapidly and effectively build and deploy high-end mission-critical systems.
LuciadMap is a suite of customizable software components that system integrators and original equipment manufacturers can easily integrate into their existing systems. The product has a global user base in the Aviation, and Defense & Security industry. With version 9.1, Luciad adds additional functionality and performance to its LuciadMap software suite.
Luciad continuously expands its technology to offer the most complete software suite. LuciadMap V9.1 extends its Network & Route planning capability with dynamic and versatile cross country movement, computing the optimal path for vehicles in situations where prepared roads cannot be used. This helps commanders to deal with specific challenges in tactical operations such as staying out of the line of sight of hostile forces and being able to plan a safe route over an open terrain. In addition, Version 9.1 allows accurate and fast path planning in extremely large road networks.
LuciadMap V9.1 also comes with a new 3D add-on in Lucy, the high-level application component offering the entire suite of LuciadMap functionality in an integrated, configurable application. The 3D add-on consists of open and flexible components that make building visualization applications in 3D as easy as in 2D. The add-on supports multiple 3D maps that are highly consistent with the 2D map, both for the end-user and the developer. In combination with the specialized Earth functionality, it is now possible to easily show all data in 3D, regardless of the data source, type and size.
The V9.1 release further strengthens LuciadMap’s support for military standards. The product is compliant with the MIL-STD 2525b Change 2 specification and the new MIL-STD 2525c standard for joint military symbology. LuciadMap fully supports AML (Additional Military Layers), which is an extension of the S-57 maritime format. V9.1 adds support for the AML Symbology Guidance of the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO). This is the de facto standard for AML symbology as used by NATO and other organizations.
“Version 9.1 adds many new functionalities in direct response to new standards and urgent requirements expressed by our customers”, said Lode Missiaen, Luciad CEO. “These new capabilities have been added to the strong LuciadMap platform, guaranteeing the high performance, precision and robustness that make the product class-leading for Defense and Aviation.”
