ZedaSoft announces Award of Simulator contract from the USAF Test Pilot School at Edwards AFB

Fort Worth, Texas, October 12, 2006 --[ASDWire.com]-- ZedaSoft, Inc., a simulation and visualization software company announced the award by the USAF Test Pilot School (TPS) at Edwards AFB of a contract to develop a simulator system to teach current and advanced avionics concepts to its students. It specifically includes the use of radar ground map and targeting pod infrared imagery simulation to prepare the TPS students for flying the next generation of USAF fighter aircraft.

The simulator system is based on ZedaSoft’s Container Based Architecture (CBA™) for simulation, which is a patent pending, object-oriented Java based simulation framework that leverages Internet and JOGL graphics technologies. "Java has brought an unprecedented level of stability and flexibility to our simulation systems, and also allowed us to easily integrate web technologies within the simulation problem domain.", said G.W. Estep, president of ZedaSoft.

The CBA™ architecture allows the TPS students to quickly observe the avionics capabilities of different generations of aircraft by instantaneously switching from one aircraft type to another in the same scenario. These observations are valuable in teaching workload management techniques to new TPS candidates. The simulator includes a 24” touch-screen virtual instrument display, hands-on-controls, four 24” monitors for out the window viewing, a sensor channel and all necessary computers housed in a single rolling case.

The delivered simulator will include a 4-channel MetaVR™ image generator system for the out- the-window-view, and a single MetaVR sensor channel for radar ground map and EO sensor simulation. This simulator will take advantage of a new sensor generation capability now available in MetaVR’s Virtual Reality Scene Generator™ (VRSG) version 5 software.

The Adacel® eSRS voice recognition system will be integrated and used to demonstrate advanced voice command interfaces like the one being proposed for the F-35 Lightning II fighter. An InterSense® IS-900 head-tracking system will be used to demonstrate helmet-mounted display cueing similar to the helmet being retrofitted into F-15 aircraft. NASA's Highway-In-The-Sky software will also be integrated into the simulator to demonstrate advanced navigational aids.
