UDT Expands Into Dual Use Applications for 2007
The show, which is already beating previous exhibitor bookings, conference paper submissions and advanced visitor enquiry levels, is being held this year at the Mostra D’Oltremare in Napoli between the 5 and 7 June. For the first time there will be a significant presence to reflect the crucial and growing role that dual use applications is playing in the underwater technology arenas and this has been welcomed by many of the leading companies taking part.
"Dual use applications is an important topic at the moment and I believe by adapting the UDT programme to feature this new area, UDT is showing itself as the market leading event specifically for undersea technology," said Simon Kears, Nexus Business Media Marketing Manager. This view is shared by leading figures in the industry,
"In recent years the use of COTS has already played an important role in military systems. Today we are facing a situation, where it has become possible to use even complete systems on board of military carriers. This creates interesting challenges and opportunities for users and vendors. Including this subject into UDT is therefore only consequent step into the future of UDT,” said Alfred Schulte, Director Sonars and Systems for Submarines at ATLAS ELEKTRONIK.
The extension of the UDT 2007 programme will include various presentations from the new category, including: ‘Acoustical Applications’, ‘From Play Station to Reality’, ‘Low Cost Solutions’ and ‘Cables for Underwater Applications’. The conference organisers remind all persons wishing to attend the conference that the deadline for the early discount rate ends 6 April 2007.
“UDT has been growing in status in the last several years and this new wider portfolio is an exciting yet inevitable step. The quality of the conference papers and exhibitors already submitted are themselves a huge endorsement of our decision to make this move,” commented Giorgio Rittore, UDT 2007 Conference Chair.
Companies already confirmed as presenting dual use technology issues include Kongsberg Maritime, QinetiQ, Leoni Cable and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center to mention but a few.
More than 1000 exhibition attendees and over 500 conference delegates visited the 2006 UDT event in Hamburg, Germany. Already, UDT Europe 2007 is expecting to attract more than 600 delegates to this year’s event and anticipates increases in exhibitor and visitor numbers.
