IPS Reports New Power Generation Contracts
• SAAB Aerosystems - Linkoping Sweden, has selected IPS to provide its 60KVA oil cooled alternators & associated electronic controls for Early Warning Aircraft Program.
The IPS generators incorporate innovative and proprietary cooling design, which will provide over 30% increase in power density, compared to existing technology. The new 60KVA power generators will replace 45KVA units, within existing envelope and weight constraints.
The improved reliability inherent to IPS generator’s thermal and electromagnetic design will enable efficient execution of long flight duty cycles.
The 3 year contract is expected to generate revenue in excess of $2 million.
• Teledyne Turbines - Toledo Ohio, contracted IPS to develop, qualify, and produce high-speed (43,000 RPM) generator and power conditioning unit for a new UAV platform.
The IPS 10KW system provides a unique solution to multiple power requirements in captive and autonomous operating modes of the air vehicle.
The 2 contracts have a potential combined value of more then $4 million over the 10 year life of the program.
• Goodrich Wheels& Brakes – Troy Ohio, selected IPS to develop and qualify a Power Conditioning Unit
For it’s integrated Electric Brake Actuation System.
The development contract, valued at over $1 million, is expected to be followed by production release.
• In related news, IPS has been recently awarded additional multiple R&O contracts by U.S. Gov., totaling over $2 million. IPS is supporting the AC generators & DC starters used on the AH-1 Cobra, and HH-60 helicopters.
