Integran Technologies USA Awarded Contract by NASA

Pittsburgh, PA - May 3, 2007 --[ASDWire]-- Integran Technologies USA Inc. (Pittsburgh, PA) a leading developer of metallurgical nanotechnologies, announced today that it has been awarded a Phase I SBIR contract by NASA’s Glenn Research Center (Cleveland, Ohio) to apply Integran’s “grain boundary engineering” technology to the assessment and optimization of the durability of nickel-based superalloys used in high temperature jet engine components.

“The successful application of our patented GBE technology to aircraft component aging and durability, is expected to result in extended service life and reduced repair and overhaul costs for current jet engine technology, as well as potentially enable higher operating jet engine temperatures, such as that required for the development of aircraft capable of sustained supersonic transit” said Dr. Virgil Provenzano, a Senior Scientist with Integran.

The US NASA SBIR Program (Small Business Innovation Research) provides early-stage research & development funding directly to small US-based technology companies.
