Tangent Link launches new Global Aerial Fire Fighting Conference in Athens
The event takes place in Athens on 21st-22nd October 2008 and will be the first major event of its kind to showcase how civilian and military fixed and rotary aircraft, using highly innovative aerial fire fighting technologies and techniques, can work with fire fighting units on the ground to suppress and extinguish these fires safely and successfully. Aerial Fire Fighting 2008 will include live aerial demonstrations and a display of both fixed and rotary-winged aircraft.
Aerial Fire Fighting 2008 will bring together the world’s top experts and will focus on aerial fire fighting technologies and operations, including the cooperation and collaboration experiences and lessons learned in ground-to-air fire fighting management. It will be run in association with The Global Fire Monitoring Centre (GFMC), UNISDR-United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction and the International Association of Wildland Fire, reflecting worldwide concern about this growing problem.
Karen Griffith, Managing Director, Tangent Link said “We are really pleased that our keynote speaker will be Johann G Goldammer - Director of the Global Fire Monitoring Centre. Johann is a recognised expert in this field and the fact that he will be there is a testament to the importance of this issue and this conference. We are also delighted that attendees will be able to actually see the latest aerial fire fighting technology in action with live demonstrations taking place immediately before the conference opens.”
