Bohemia Interactive to support the Australian Army Simulation Wing (ASW) at Land Warfare Conference (LWC) 08
The Australian Defence Force is a key member of the VBS2 International Military Users Group and has funded a wide range of developments in VBS2 this year. ASW funded new terrain areas (Tarin Kowt and Kandahar in Afghanistan, Gleno and Bacau In East Timor and also Honiara in the Solomon Islands) as well as new functionality including dynamic AI for populated cities, Scan Eagle UAV simulation including launch and recovery mechanisms and also new types of engineering vehicles.
The ADF has also recently funded extensions to the Virtual Reality Simulator (VRS) series including Aircrewman, Marshalling and Sniper systems. The ADF Warfare Centre (ADFWC) also recently contracted Bohemia Interactive to develop a number of naval assets within VBS2 including a basic naval gunfire support capability.
In addition to demonstrating many of these VBS2 features on behalf of the ADF, Bohemia Interactive will also be demonstrating the prototype VBS2 Call For Fire Module (CFFM) and many recent engine enhancements including PhysX articulated vehicles, external control of the VBS2 character skeleton and a new high fidelity radar simulation. VBS2 has also been integrated with the ExpeditionDI man wearable, field-ready dismounted infantry training system by Quantum3D, and this will be on display at the joint Simergy/Quantum3D display, booth # 306.
