Next generation software solutions for AIXM 5 airspace visualization and handling

Leuven, Belgium, May 6th 2009 --[ASDWire]-- Luciad, the specialist in high performance visualization of situational awareness applications in ATC/ATM applications, will be taking up an active role at the upcoming first annual Aeronautical Information Exchange (AIXM) and Weather Information Exchange Model (WXXM) Conference on May 12-14 in Arlington VA, USA.

The Conference is hosted by the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and will focus on AIXM and MET information Exchange, Graphical Visualization and Common Situational Awareness.

On Wednesday May 13th, Luciad will be presenting and demonstrating LuciadMap, the flagship software solution for building aeronautical information systems with class leading graphical display capabilities, with special focus on LuciadMap’s AIXM 5 capabilities.

The LuciadMap AIXM 5 seminar will illustrate the flexibility and power of the LuciadMap technology to build advanced applications that make full use of the AIXM 5 standard. Luciad will share its experience in developing next generation software tools for the high performance handling (decoding, encoding and editing) and visualization of AIXM 5 based aeronautical data.

A full implementation of AIXM 5 Airspace visualization and editing, developed by the FAA on top of Luciad technology, will also be presented, underlining the significant advances being made in the adoption of this important new aeronautical standard.

Luciad’s participation in the OGC OWS-6 research project will be explained in a co-presentation with the OGC project team. More specifically, there will be demonstrations of the LuciadMap-based Electronic Flight Bag featuring temporality, digital NOTAM handling and OGC Web Feature Server integration.

During the entire event, Luciad’s products for AIM and demonstrations focused on AIXM will be permanently on display on its booth at the exhibition area of the Conference.
